What do you guys think of Jennifer Hudson playing Aretha Franklin. It seems like Jennifer wants to be the singer that nails biopics instead nailing winner albums. Aretha Franklin. I honestly think she would do a fantastic job, Jennifer definitely has her acting nailed. A few months ago, we learned that a film about the life of ‘The Queen of Soul’ was in the works. Supposedly Aretha Franklin wants Halle Berry to play her in the new movie??? HUH. Halle is a great actress but I don't see an Aretha vibe. During her performance at the 125th anniversary for Hearst, while singing some Aretha medleys, she told the crowd she wanted to play the role of Aretha. A Page Six spy reports:
“She introduced the [Franklin] song ‘Oh Me Oh My’ and said it was her plan to portray Aretha someday. Jennifer then asked the audience, ‘Is anyone listening?’ to imply someone in the crowd should give her that role.”
