I’ve been an avid reader of Essence magazine since I was in my early twenties. Since that time I have seen Essence ax many editors, some for change, and some who claim the magazine just had a different focus from what they had intended. Over the years I’ve heard various rumors that the higher ups at Essence don’t necessarily have the Black woman in mind. This month yet again another editor was axed. Constance White who was at Essence a little over two years was said to have resigned but she clears the air that she was actually fired. What did you think of Essence the last few years? I thought they had some compelling topics, while Constance was there. With Internet taking a lot of readers away from publications will Essence be able to make the cut. I heard a number of cuts were made, due to low readership.
