WHY DIDN'T "SPARKLE" DO SO WELL??

Wowzers, Sparkle didn't do as well as everyone thought it would...

"Over the weekend, Whitney Houston’s final movie, Sparkle, starring Jordin Sparks, grossed $12 million at the box office. It opened on 2,244 screens, grossing $4.5 million on Friday and $200,000 less on Saturday. The film came in number 5, being beat out by debuts of ”The Expendables 2″, ”ParaNorman” and ”The Odd Life of Timothy Green”. Sparkle’s tally was on the low end of expectations. The final numbers for the weekend will be released later on Monday. "

Can anyone come up with why????

  1. Although I have yet to see this movie, it's obviously not going to be as good as the first. Some movies were meant to be left alone. The original had plenty of Soul and the movie looked classic enough to replicate the 50s style. The original cast appeared to be kids chasing a dream and not trying to be glamourous; but ended up being near perfection, in beauty and voice. This cast looks as though they are glamourous already and not searching for much of anything. Next time come up with something original.

  2. I think people want to remember Whitney as a great singer but she was never a great actress. So, to spare persons the agony of having to critic her work posthumosly, they skipped the movie.
